What is Proxy Editing?
Editing with smaller, lower-resolution copies of the original footage, then switching back to the full-quality files for export.
High-resolution formats such as 4K, 6K and RAW can be too heavy to play smoothly on many computers. Proxies make editing responsive, and because they are linked to the originals, the final render uses full quality.
Proxy workflows are standard in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
