What is Equalization (EQ)?
Adjusting the balance of frequencies in audio — boosting or cutting bass, mids and treble — to shape its tone.
EQ removes rumble below the voice, reduces boxiness and harshness, and adds presence so speech cuts through. In a mix, EQ helps instruments and voices avoid masking each other.
High-pass filters, which cut low frequencies, are one of the most common and useful EQ moves on voice recordings.
