What is Raster Image?
An image made of a grid of pixels, such as a photograph saved as JPEG, PNG or WebP.
Raster images have a fixed resolution: enlarging them beyond their pixel dimensions makes them blurry or blocky. They suit photos and complex images with gradients and textures.
Choosing the right format matters for the web: JPEG and WebP for photos, PNG for graphics needing transparency, and modern formats such as WebP and AVIF for smaller files.
