What is Light Baking
Pre-Computed Lighting, Real-Time Beauty
Light baking is the secret weapon of every great real-time 3D experience. Instead of calculating complex lighting and shadows on every single frame, we compute them once and store the results in texture maps called lightmaps. The result? Stunning offline-quality lighting running at game-engine speeds.
Done right, baked lighting looks indistinguishable from real-time path tracing — but runs 100x faster. We handle UV unwrapping, lightmap resolution tuning, light probe placement, and final integration so your scene looks gorgeous on any platform.

Lightmap Baking
High-quality 2K, 4K, and 8K lightmaps with proper UV unwrapping, padding, and seam optimization for flawless results.
Light Probe Placement
Strategic probe placement for moving objects and characters. Smooth indirect lighting transitions across your scene.
Reflection Probes
Cubemap reflection probes baked at the right spots for realistic mirror surfaces, glossy materials, and metals.
Ambient Occlusion
Baked AO maps that add subtle shadows in crevices, corners, and contact areas for visual depth without runtime cost.
Global Illumination Bake
Indirect light bounces baked into your scene for natural color bleeding and realistic ambient lighting everywhere.
UV2 Lightmap Unwrap

Use Cases
Where Light Baking Saves the Day
Anywhere real-time 3D meets a performance budget, baked lighting is your best friend. Here's where it pays off the most.
Console & PC Games
Lock 60fps without compromise. Baked GI gives you the look of pre-rendered cinematics in interactive levels.
VR Experiences
90+ fps is non-negotiable in VR. Baked lighting delivers stunning visuals with zero motion sickness.
Mobile & WebGL
Tight thermal and battery budgets demand baked lighting. Get console-quality visuals on phones and browsers.

Our Process
How We Bake Your Lighting
A clean, repeatable workflow that delivers gorgeous baked lighting every time.
01
Scene Audit & UV Cleanup
We review your scene, fix overlapping UVs, generate clean UV2 channels for lightmaps, and resolve any geometry issues that would cause artifacts.
02
Lighting Setup & Probe Placement
We place lights, light probes, and reflection probes strategically. The right placement makes the difference between flat and stunning results.
03
Bake & Iterate
We run the bake — sometimes for hours — then review every angle. Tweak resolutions, samples, and probe density until everything reads cleanly.
04
Optimize & Deliver
Compress lightmap textures, validate frame rates on target hardware, and deliver the optimized scene file ready to ship in your project.

Why Bake
Why Baked Lighting Wins
The benefits go way beyond just faster frame rates.
Massive FPS Boost
Lock 60+ fps on consoles, 90+ in VR, and 30+ on low-end mobile. Baked lighting is essentially free at runtime.
Offline-Quality Visuals
Path-traced beauty in real-time. Your players or clients see results that look like rendered images, not game graphics.
Lower Power Use
Less GPU work means less heat and longer battery life on mobile, Quest, and laptops. Players can enjoy longer sessions.
Mobile-Friendly
Deliver console-quality visuals on phones and tablets where dynamic GI would be impossible. Reach a wider audience.
VR Comfort
Stable high frame rates prevent motion sickness. Baked lighting is the only way to make VR worlds look this good.
Predictable Quality
No random noise, no temporal artifacts. What you bake is exactly what you ship — every player sees the same visuals.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our light baking services.
When should I use baked lighting vs real-time GI like Lumen?
Bake when your scene is mostly static (architecture, interiors, level art) and you need maximum performance. Use Lumen or RTX GI when your lighting changes dynamically (day/night cycles, destructible environments). Most projects use a hybrid — baked GI for the bulk, dynamic lights for key actors.
What lightmap resolution do I need?
Mobile games usually use 512-1024 per chunk. PC and console games use 1K-2K per object. ArchViz interiors and VR experiences benefit from 2K-4K. We tune resolution per surface based on importance — walls might be 2K while ceilings are 512.
How long does light baking take?
A single small scene takes 1-3 days including UV cleanup, baking, and iteration. Larger game levels or multi-room ArchViz scenes take 5-10 days. Rush delivery is available for time-sensitive projects.
Will my scene's UVs need to be reworked?
Probably yes for the lightmap UV2 channel — most scenes need this added or cleaned up. We handle this automatically as part of our service. Your existing texture UVs (UV0/UV1) stay untouched.
Do you offer a free test bake?
Yes. Send us a small test scene or asset and we'll bake it for free so you can see the quality and workflow firsthand before committing to a paid project.
