What Is It?

Adaptive Streaming,
In Plain English

Think of it like a smart highway system for your video. Instead of forcing every car into one lane, adaptive streaming creates multiple lanes -- each designed for different speeds. When a viewer's connection slows down, the video automatically drops to a lighter version. When bandwidth opens up, quality ramps right back to crystal-clear HD or 4K.

The magic? Your viewer never notices. No loading spinners, no sudden quality drops mid-scene. Just smooth, uninterrupted video that feels like it was made specifically for their device and connection.

The Problem

Why Single-Bitrate Video Is Costing You Viewers

If you're still uploading one version of your video and hoping for the best, here's what's actually happening behind the scenes.

Constant Buffering

Mobile viewers on variable connections hit the dreaded spinning wheel every few seconds. 53% leave after just 3 seconds of buffering.

Wasted Bandwidth

Serving 4K to a 5-inch phone screen is like shipping a piano when someone ordered a keyboard. You're paying for data no one sees.

Excluded Audiences

Viewers in regions with slower internet simply can't watch your content. You're invisibly losing entire geographic markets.

Killed Conversions

Every buffering event drops conversion rates by 5.8%. A 2-minute product video that buffers twice just lost you 12% of potential sales.

Our Process

How We Transform Your Video Into a Smart Stream

You send us your video. We hand back a complete adaptive streaming package that works on every device and every connection, worldwide. Here's how.

01

Deep Source Analysis

We don't just look at resolution. We analyze scene complexity, motion vectors, color depth, and audio characteristics to build a custom encoding recipe for your specific content.

02

Per-Title Encoding

A talking-head webinar needs completely different settings than a fast-action sports clip. We build a unique bitrate ladder for each video -- not generic presets that waste quality or bandwidth.

03

Multi-Format Packaging

We generate HLS manifests for Apple devices, DASH for everything else, and CMAF for universal compatibility. Every segment is keyframe-aligned so quality switches are invisible.

04

Real-Device QA Testing

Before delivery, we test on real phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and consoles. We simulate network throttling, quality switches, and seek behavior to catch issues humans miss.

05

CDN-Ready Delivery

You get organized, documented files ready to upload to AWS CloudFront, Cloudflare, Akamai, or any CDN. We include player setup snippets and integration guidance at no extra charge.

06

Quality Reporting

Every project comes with a detailed quality report: VMAF scores per rendition, bitrate efficiency analysis, and recommendations. You'll see exactly what we did and why.

Who It's For

Built for Every Kind of Content

Whether you're streaming a concert or selling a course, adaptive delivery makes your video work harder.

Live Streaming

Handle 10 or 10,000 concurrent viewers without a hiccup. Quality adjusts per-viewer in real time, so your live event feels premium for everyone watching.

Online Education

Students in dorm rooms and developing countries both finish your courses. Completion rates jump because the content just works, wherever they are.

E-commerce

Product videos that load instantly on mobile. When shoppers on 3G can see your product demo without buffering, conversion rates climb.

News & Media

Breaking news needs to reach every viewer instantly. Adaptive streaming keeps your reports playing smoothly during massive traffic spikes.

Healthcare

Medical training videos and telehealth sessions that work reliably across hospital Wi-Fi, clinic tablets, and patient home connections.

Gaming & Esports

Fast-action gameplay demands precise encoding. Our optimization preserves sharp details during intense scenes while keeping the stream butter-smooth.

Why Us

Not Just Encoding.
Expert Optimization.

Anybody can run FFmpeg with default settings. We bring years of streaming engineering experience to understand why your webinar needs completely different encoding than your product demo, and we act on it. Every video gets human attention, not just an automated pipeline.

Content-Aware Analysis

We analyze scene complexity, motion, and grain patterns to set encoding parameters per segment -- not per file.

Custom Bitrate Ladders

No two videos get the same settings. Your talking-head tutorial gets a different ladder than your live concert footage.

Real-Device Testing

We test on actual phones, tablets, TVs, and consoles. Not just simulators -- real hardware, real networks.

Questions We Hear a Lot

What formats do you deliver?

HLS (m3u8) as standard, with DASH optional. All manifests, segments, and documentation are included. Files are ready to upload to AWS S3, Cloudflare, Akamai, or any HTTP server. We also provide CMAF packaging on request for unified HLS/DASH delivery.

What's the difference between HLS and DASH?

HLS is Apple's protocol -- it works natively on iOS, Safari, and most modern players. DASH is an open standard that's the default on Android and web browsers. We recommend delivering both for maximum coverage, and our Professional plan includes both by default.

How long does processing take?

Standard turnaround is 1-2 hours per video hour. Professional includes 12-hour priority processing. Enterprise can get even faster turnarounds. We always confirm delivery times before starting your project.

Will this work with my existing video player?

Yes! Our output works with all major HTML5 players including Video.js, hls.js, Shaka Player, JW Player, Bitmovin, and THEOplayer. We include player setup code snippets and can help you integrate.

How much extra storage do adaptive streams need?

A full 6-level adaptive package typically uses 3-5x the storage of a single HD file. For example, a 1-hour 1080p video at ~5GB produces around 15-25GB of adaptive files. The storage cost is more than offset by reduced bandwidth waste and dramatically better viewer experience.

Do you support DRM content protection?

Yes -- we support Widevine, FairPlay, and PlayReady DRM. Our Enterprise plan includes full multi-DRM packaging. We can work with your existing DRM provider or help you set up complete content protection from scratch.

What about subtitles and multiple audio tracks?

We support WebVTT and TTML subtitle formats embedded directly in the manifest, along with multiple audio tracks for languages or audio descriptions. Everything stays properly synchronized across all quality levels during adaptive switching.

What resolutions and codecs do you support?

We process up to 4K with HDR support using H.264, H.265/HEVC, VP9, and AV1 codecs. Standard output resolutions include 2160p, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, and 360p. We customize the codec and bitrate ladder based on your target audience's devices and typical bandwidth.
